The lockdown drags on; this is the beginning of week 4 for England, week 7 for me personally. I haven’t been one to go out a lot, so the lockdown has not affected me as much as others; if anything, the lockdown seems to have had a positive effect on my productivity (but then, I am a writer!). I still haven’t worked out how, since I was at home most of the days even before it, but I have had much more success with time blocking than at any other time before.

Apart from the main task of writing, I have drawn up a personal list of projects which I thought I’d share just in case others find them as inspiring as I have.

Idea no 1: Revive childhood memories

On Mother’s Day my daughter Athena gave me a Give N Get back book called Mum, Tell Me, with prompts and space for filling in my answers. I started working on it with my answers to three questions:

What day were you born? Were you born at home or in hospital?

What is your full name?

Do you know why your parents picked your name?

What were your nicknames?

I dug out old photos and spent a few minutes filling in the first page. This promises to be an exciting pursuit!

Try at Home: Look through childhood photos, birthday cards, postcards, objects, and write their stories and any other memories they trigger. Don’t worry about spelling and grammar; just get the gems down!
