 Rediscovering an old passion

One of my New Year resolutions in January 2023 was to explore singing, a long-lasting but until then largely unexplored passion.

In these posts, I cast my mind back at my very first awkward and eventually abortive beginnings in singing; contemplate how much more than singing I am learning through the singing lessons; and explore the energy involved in both speaking and singing voice.

By July 2025 I had enough confidence to sing Pergolesi’s Se tu m’ami at the end-of-term class concert and Scarlatti’s O cessate di piagarmi at the end-of-year Classical Singing concert at the City Lit, London, for the very first time.

At the beginning of 2025 I had resolved to sing Verdi by the end of the year. I was pleased to be able to turn the resolution into reality with singing Verdi’s Non t’accostare all’urna and Saint-Saens Mon coeur s’ouvre a ta voix at the class concert on 1 December 2025.
